Our Story: Born by the Poolside
Our journey began with a poolside conversation between three passionate entrepreneurs. Inspired by a shared love for Florida’s unique culture, beautiful landscapes, and fun-filled lifestyle, we envisioned a moonshine company that would embody everything that makes the Sunshine State special. From that conversation, The Florida Moonshine Company was born.

We’re more than just a distillery. Our mission is to celebrate Florida’s heritage and showcase the creativity, camaraderie, and adventurous spirit of this incredible state. Located in St. Augustine—the oldest city in the U.S.—we draw daily inspiration from the blend of history and modern vibrancy that defines Florida. WHAT’S THEIR FAVORITE MOONSHINE?
what brought us together to form The Florida Moonshine Company?
My husband and I own Sailbird Distilling, where we craft a variety of exceptional products, including rum, whiskey, gin, vodka, and several flavored gins and vodkas. Moonshine wasn’t originally part of our lineup, but after talking with Tara and Gretchen, adding Florida Moonshine felt like the perfect next step.
I’m a flight attendant, which means I travel frequently and experience a variety of cultures, foods, and drinks. Serving drinks on the plane has also given me a unique perspective on what people enjoy. What I love about our moonshine is how it offers something truly different for visitors to Florida—something uniquely Floridian. Plus, my husband is the co-owner of a distillery in East Tennessee, so I’m already very familiar with the spirit industry.
My husband has worked in the liquor industry for most of his career and often shared how popular moonshine has become in recent years. When I met Susan and Tara, it felt like the perfect opportunity to combine our unique backgrounds and perspectives to create something truly special—the Florida Moonshine Company.
